Christmas Bazaar and Raffle

Lots of different items will be sold in keeping with a festive theme
providing a variety of Christmas Present ideas and solutions! The
stalls will include 3d pictures, crystals, fairies, essential oils,
cakes, cards and lots lots more. There will also be a special Christmas
Raffle with tickets available at £1 each.

Donations will be made to Grace Manor Nursing Home by the stall holders
for our Residents Fund which pays for the entertainment for the Home.

There will be a variety of goods available for sale....all at very reasonable prices and
without the stress....in a relaxed and comfortable environment!

Limited car parking available. 176 bus route stops nearby to Grace Manor.

The venue: Grace Manor Nursing Home, 348 Grange Road, Gillingham.

The Pantiles Players are present a new production titled "HANSEL and GRETEL IN THE WILDWOOD" written and adapted from the Grimms old fairy tale by a local writer, Gaye Jee who is a member of our society and writer and actress for a Murder Mystery Company.

The Pantiles Players will be presenting "HANSEL & GRETEL IN THE WILDWOOD" at the Victorian Theatre of SALOMONS Broomhill Road Southborough Tunbridge Wells Kent TN3 0TG from Easter Sunday 23rd - Easter Monday 24th March 2008. Performances Sunday 2.30pm & 6.30pm Monday 2.30pm only.

Children’s Festival – Dover Castle

Every day, Monday 7 to Friday 11 April, 10am-5pm

Children can dress up and perform in plays, clown around in circus skill workshops and enjoy have-a-go cross-bow, stage combat and duelling. With bed of nails and fire breathing side-shows.

Spy School – Dover Castle

Saturday 3 – Bank Holiday Monday 5 May, 10am-5pm

Youngsters can find out if they have what it takes to become a top secret agent or super sleuth. They can enroll on a day of clue cracking and cipher decoding to discover their skills of detection and take on a disguise by having fun with weird wigs and mad moustaches. And they can find out how real double agents and spies hid secret information in everyday items. Just like “Q” in the James Bond films, they can have a go making some spy gadgets themselves.

Living History Spectacular – Dover Castle

Saturday 24 to Bank Holiday Monday 26 May, 10am-5pm

Travel back in time and meet Romans, Tudors and Soldiers from WW1 & II. Soak up the atmosphere of the bustling medieval keep and be thrilled by Norman cavalry displays. A full day out for the whole family!

Music at the Castle – Dover Castle

Medieval Merriment
Sunday 1 June, 11am-4pm

Listen to an extensive array of authentic and reproduction instruments, from the harp and the hurdy gurdy to bagpipes and the keyfiddle.


Victoriana Music
Sunday 8 June, 11am-4pm

To the sounds of the melodeon and the bagpipes, visitors can learn more about music of the Victorian era. Dancers in period costume will perform court and social dances.

The Gurkhas
Sunday 15 June, 11am-4pm

Join the band for military music performances throughout the day.

Wish Me Luck
Sunday 22 June, 11am-4pm

Music from the era of World War II with live musicians performing favourite tunes by artists such as the Andrews Sisters, Marlene Dietrich, Glenn Miller and of course, Dame Vera Lynn.

Big Band Day
Sunday 29th June, 11am - 4pm

The finale in the season of music events sees brass bands from around the region joining together for the Big Bands Day at the castle.

Friday 1 August, 10am-5pm

Follow the clues around the castle keep, try to crack codes and ciphers to win a secret prize.



Time Travellers Academy – Dover Castle

Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August, 10am-5pm

Children can travel back in time and have fun discovering some of the skills and tricks of the trade of historic characters from the past. They can learn how to play the fool in Jester School or train to be a professional Roman fighter at Gladiator School. Budding clowns can learn the skills and tricks of the circus performer, and wannabe knights can test their flair and talent for fearless chivalry as they are instructed in sword fighting and skill at arms in Knight School.



Gladiator Quest – Dover Castle

Every day, Monday 4 – Friday 8 August, 10am-5pm

Follow the clues and quizzes around the castle keep to embark on a Gladiator Quest. Don’t forget to collect your prize.



A Right Roman Day Out – Dover Castle

Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August, 10am-5pm

What have the Romans ever done for us? More than you think, including developing the first fitted sock! This is an opportunity to discover more about the Roman inventions that shaped our lives today. There are games to enjoy from the Roman Empire, period surveying to have a try at and visitors can find out about Roman food and recipes. A Roman charioteer will demonstrate his thrilling skills as he drives an authentic replica of a Quadriga chariot.



Gruesome Castle Quest – Dover Castle

Every Day, Monday 11 – Friday 15 August, 10am-5pm

Can you stomach the Gruesome Castle Quest? To win a prize you must be prepared to find out about the smelliest and most ghastly aspects of life at the castle.



The Worst Days out in History – Dover Castle

Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August, 10am-5pm

A gruesome glimpse at some of the most hideous and horrible aspects of history. Meet the Singing Plague Victims and visit the medieval surgeon to find out more about medicines and cures. Witness surgical procedures from the 18th century and get a close look at amputations and bleeding with live leeches. Talk to the Victorian Tosher and learn about the history of the toilet while he searches the sewers for hidden treasurers. Get your face painted with the pox or a gruesome wound.

Dare you embark on a spine-tingling quest around one of England’s most haunted castles? A prize for every brave ghost hunter who completes the quest.

Ghosts don’t wait until Hallowe’en – so why should we? A spine-tingling day out with terrifyingly fun activities for all the family, including a ghost tour led by spooky characters around the castle.
